Short answer: you can order a handmade outdoor sauna for a Washington home directly from Blazin Saunas. Our team of six builds each one for your order in Idaho Falls, in East Idaho, and we ship it to your address, whether that's a rain-soaked lot west of the Cascades or a snowy yard near Spokane. Pods, barrels, cubes, and the Timberline ship free in the contiguous U.S. The Teton and Blackwood arrive fully built, with shipping quoted.
Below: Washington's two climates, what to ask about permits, and how to choose a heat source.
Two climates: west-side rain, Spokane snow
Seattle and Tacoma see rain on a large share of days but little snow. Spokane and the east side are much drier overall, yet get far more snow.
- West of the Cascades, plan for water. Choose a level base where water drains away from the cabin, with room to reach every wall. See Foundation and electrical and Cedar sauna maintenance.
- In Spokane and the rest of the east side, plan for snow. Clear the roof after storms, keep a path to the door, and ask your building department what snow load applies. See Cold-climate saunas.
Sugi cedar and a clean build
We build every sauna from Sugi cedar with 1 5/8" walls, fastened with stainless steel screws. There is no glue in the cabin joinery and no off-gassing plastics in the structure. Why we picked Sugi for outdoor builds: Sugi cedar outdoor saunas. How it's put together: Clean build, no glue.

Heaters and local rules
For Washington installs, start with an electric heater and ask us about your local rules before you pick any other heat source. Our pods, cubes, 2 Person Barrel, XL Barrel, and Timberline list 175 to 230°F for the included heater.
- Electric suits most city and suburban lots when an electrician can run a dedicated circuit. Ask us about your local rules before choosing any other heat source.
Rules for wood stoves vary, so check your local rules and ask us before you consider wood. We do not claim any wood-burning heater is approved or compliant for Washington. Prefer an electric heater for Washington installs, and ask us about your local rules.
Compare electric options in Electric vs wood-burning heaters.
Washington permits: start with your city or county
Rules for backyard structures differ by city and county, and electrical work for a heater can need its own permit, so ask about an electrical permit if you choose an electric heater.
A heated sauna may not be treated like a storage shed, and a shed exemption, where one exists, may not cover zoning, setbacks, HOA covenants, or electrical work.
Check local rules: confirm zoning, setbacks, permits, and HOA approval with your city or county before you order. Our Permits and HOA guide lists the questions to ask.
Choosing a model
Every model can be customized, or ask about custom sauna builds.

How ordering works
We plan every order over the phone and don't do site visits. Photos of the spot, the route in, and your nearest power source help. Financing is available through Affirm, and HSA/FSA payment through TrueMed.
Every sauna carries our 3-year limited warranty, which covers residential, rental, commercial, and dealer use. All sales are final. Each sauna is handmade for your order in East Idaho. Defects are covered by our 3-year warranty.
Shipping to cities across Washington
We ship to addresses throughout Washington, including Seattle, Tacoma, Bellevue, Spokane, Vancouver, and Bellingham. Pods, barrels, cubes, and the Timberline ship free in the contiguous U.S., after a build of about 4-5 weeks and 5-10 business days in transit. Each sauna is handmade for your order in East Idaho. Rules for backyard structures are set by your city or county, so check local rules and ask us before you order.
Bellevue: a sauna permit and setback rules
Seattle Sand Point (NOAA station USW00094290), about 6 miles northwest of Bellevue City Hall across Lake Washington, averages a 37.2°F low and a 47.4°F high in January. It records measurable precipitation on about 163 days a year, 37.82 inches in all, with November the wettest month at 5.85 inches (NOAA U.S. Climate Normals). July and August average about 5 to 6 wet days a month, against 12 or more from October through May, so summer is the easier window for assembly.
The City's Work Requiring Permits page says a permit is required for installing a sauna and for adding or moving electrical circuits. Its accessory structure guidance for lots under 20,000 square feet adds:
- At least 10 feet from a street right of way, access easement, or private road.
- The same front and side setbacks as the house, and 5 feet from the rear property line.
- Accessory structures may cover up to 10 percent of the lot, counted toward lot coverage and impervious surface limits.
- In most cases, no building over utility easements without written permission from the easement owner. A wetland, stream, steep slope, or the Shoreline Overlay District may add requirements.
Lots of 20,000 square feet or more follow the standard setbacks for the zone. Check with the City and your HOA before you order.
Winter use. From December through February, about 20 to 23 nights a month drop below 40°F at Sand Point, but only 6 or 7 fall below freezing, and December averages 19.6 wet days. That is steady, damp cold rather than deep freeze, so a covered path and a hook for wet coats by the door earn their place.
Delivery. Pods, barrels, cubes, and the Timberline ship free in the lower 48 states. Kits have a 4–5 week lead time, and most owners assemble the kit themselves; professional assembly is optional. The Teton, Blackwood, and Timberline Lux arrive fully built, with shipping quoted (crane placement included) and lead time confirmed with the quote. Crane placement matters on a lot that drops away from the street or sits behind a retaining wall. Orders to Hawaii and Alaska are quoted too.
Models for Bellevue lots. Lot coverage counts, so start with footprint. The 2 Person Pod runs on electric or gas, the 4 Person Barrel seats four, and the 6 Person Cube seats 6. Pods, barrels, cubes, and the Timberline show $1,250 OFF on their product pages today; the Teton, Blackwood, and Timberline Lux are regular price.

Medina: shoreline, trees, and burn bans
Medina uses the same Sand Point station, a few miles across the lake, where snow averages 3.8 inches a year and about 25 nights fall below freezing. Moisture is the main job: set the cabin on a level base off bare soil, leave a gap to fences and planting beds so the cedar dries between storms, and brush evergreen needles off the roof in fall and spring.
- Shoreline. Medina's Shoreline Master Program applies within 200 feet of Lake Washington's ordinary high water mark, along with creeks, streams, and wetlands. In that zone, a sauna can need shoreline review on top of ordinary building rules.
- Trees. Medina has a tree code, and the City says a tree permit is almost always required, with limited exceptions. Pick a spot that works around the trees you have.
- Burn bans. The Puget Sound Clean Air Agency issues burn bans for King County, typically in fall and winter. A Stage 1 ban stops wood-burning fireplaces and uncertified wood stoves; Stage 2 stops certified wood stoves and pellet stoves too. Ask the agency how its rules apply to a sauna stove.
- Access. For a fully built Teton or Blackwood, tell us early about private lanes, gates, slope toward the water, and low branches; shipping is quoted by location and crane needs.
Ask the City of Medina about placement, setbacks, and whether the sauna and its circuit need permits before you order.
Near the water in winter. Sand Point's December and January normals are 5.55 and 5.14 inches of precipitation, with snow on the ground less than one day a month. After a session, wipe the bench and leave the door cracked so the cedar dries.
Models for Medina homes. The Timberline seats 6 or 8 depending on size, and the XL Barrel seats 6 to 8; both can be built with electric or wood heat, though burn bans make electric the simpler choice. For a fully built Teton or Blackwood, clear crane staging near the shoreline with the City of Medina first. Compare every model in the sauna collection.
