Clean build: cedar, stainless screws, no glue
Blazin saunas are built so the heat meets wood and steel: Sugi cedar walls, stainless steel screws, no glue in the cabin joinery, and no plastics in the structure that off-gas. Pods, barrels, cubes, and Timberline have 1 5/8" thick Sugi cedar walls. Teton and Blackwood are insulated cabins. Each one is handmade in Idaho Falls by our team of six.

No glue in the cabin joinery
We don’t glue the sauna cabin together. Staves and panels are fastened mechanically so you’re not heating glue lines every session.
No plastics in the structure that off-gas
The cabin structure isn’t plastic. It’s Sugi cedar. We avoid plastics in the structure that off-gas when the sauna is hot, so the smell you get is cedar, not coatings or synthetic cabin materials.
Note: The heater, controls, and electrical parts are manufacturer components with their own materials. The cabin itself is cedar and stainless hardware.
Stainless steel screws
Hardware is stainless steel screws, chosen for outdoor moisture.
Wood thickness: 1 5/8" cedar walls on pods, barrels, cubes, and Timberline
Pods, barrels, cubes, and Timberline have 1 5/8" thick Sugi cedar walls, which helps the cabin hold its heat. Teton and Blackwood are insulated cabins. The Teton and Blackwood can also be finished inside in Thermo Spruce or Thermo Aspen.

Teton and Blackwood: insulated cabins
The Teton and Blackwood are built differently from our kits: natural wool insulation, a foil vapor barrier, and your choice of Sugi cedar, Thermo Spruce, or Thermo Aspen inside, with siding chosen per build. They arrive fully built. Compare them in Teton vs Blackwood.
Why this matters for outdoor traditional saunas
- Hot-rock saunas run hot, so the materials next to that heat matter.
- Outdoor builds face rain, snow, and sun, which is why we use stainless hardware and thick cedar.
- Our saunas heat to 175 to 230°F (as listed for our pods, Pod Mini, cubes, 2 Person Barrel, XL Barrel, and Timberline). Pods and the Pod Mini are electric or gas. Cubes, barrels, and the Timberline can be electric or wood-burning, or a dual-heater build with both. Compare in electric vs wood-burning heaters.
