Why Blazin Saunas

Built by hand in Idaho Falls, Idaho

Sugi cedar, no plastics

Pods, barrels, cubes and the Timberline are Sugi cedar. The Teton and Blackwood also offer Thermo Spruce or Thermo Aspen interiors. No plastics in the structure that off-gas in the heat.

Glue-free cabin joinery

1 5/8" thick Sugi cedar walls on pods, barrels, cubes and the Timberline, fastened with stainless steel screws. Teton and Blackwood are insulated cabins.

Heaters

Choose your heat

Electric, wood-burning, or gas and propane heaters, and we can build with both wood and electric if you want both. Heat-up takes 30 to 60 minutes, depending on the size of the sauna.

Electric

Suits most backyards where a licensed electrician can run a dedicated circuit to the sauna.

Wood-burning

Suits cabins, canyon lots and rural properties where running power is impractical, or anyone who prefers the ritual of tending a fire.

Gas / propane

Another option. Ask us how it fits your property, and check local rules for gas or propane installs.

Wood + electric

Both wood and electric builds are available on request.

Before you order

  • A level, well-drained base
  • Zoning and setback rules for your lot
  • HOA approval, if you have one
  • Electrical permit and circuit for an electric heater
  • A clear delivery path for the truck
  • Room to keep the roof and door path clear of snow

Rules vary by city, county and HOA. We're happy to talk through placement by phone.

FAQ

Questions we hear most

How long does delivery take for me in the Northeast?

Pods, barrels, cubes and the Timberline typically have a 4 to 5 week lead time, followed by 5 to 10 business days in transit. For the Teton and Blackwood, lead time is confirmed with your quote.

Can Blazin assemble the sauna for me in the Northeast?

Yes. Professional assembly is $1,250 on pods, barrels, cubes and the Timberline, and our own crew installs it. Our pro assembly team works nationwide. The Teton and Blackwood arrive fully built.

Can someone visit my property before I order?

We don't do site visits. We consult by phone, and photos of your site, access path and power help us plan.

What warranty and return policy apply?

Every sauna has a 3-year limited warranty that applies to residential, rental and commercial use, including saunas bought through an authorized dealer. All sales are final. Each sauna is handmade for your order in East Idaho.

How can I pay?

Pay in full, choose monthly payments through Affirm (rates shown at checkout), or use HSA/FSA funds through TrueMed if you qualify with a Letter of Medical Necessity. Options are on each sauna product page.

Where can I buy a handmade outdoor sauna in the Northeast?

From Blazin Saunas, directly. Our team of six builds each sauna for your order in Idaho Falls, East Idaho, and we ship it to your property in New York, Vermont, New Hampshire, Maine, Massachusetts, Connecticut, Rhode Island, or Pennsylvania. Call (208) 520-6612 · (208) 270-5860 to talk it through.

How much snow should I plan for around an outdoor sauna?

It depends a lot on where you are: upstate lake-effect towns get far more than New York City, with Vermont and Maine in between. Plan a clear path and a spot where snow sliding off the roof won't block the door.

Do I need a permit for a backyard sauna in New York?

Ask your town, city, or village first; it decides whether your sauna needs a permit. Electrical work, zoning, setbacks, and HOA rules can still apply.

Can I use a wood-burning sauna stove in New York?

Rules differ from town to town, so check your local rules and ask us before you plan on one. Burn only dry, clean, untreated wood.

What does shipping to the Northeast cost?

Nothing for pods, barrels, cubes, and the Timberline. The Teton and Blackwood arrive fully built, and we quote their shipping by location and whether a crane is needed.

Local know-how

Planning your sauna

Weather and setup in the Northeast

Eight states means eight sets of rules and very different winters. Below: how winter changes across the region and what to ask your town.

Lake-effect snow, coastal winters
Northeast winters are uneven. Syracuse and Buffalo sit in a lake-effect belt with very heavy snow, Vermont and Maine are cold and snowy, and New York City gets milder winters with much less snow.
- Snow belt and mountain sites: set the sauna where you can shovel a path to the door, and keep the door side clear of snow sliding off the roof. Brush heavy snow off after big storms.
- Coastal and city lots: less snow, more freeze-thaw and wet weather. A level base that drains away from the cabin matters more than anything else.

On the coldest nights, give yourself time: heat-up takes 30 to 60 minutes, depending on the size of the sauna.

Delivery tip
Tell us about stone walls, tight driveways, steep lots, or overhead wires.

Permits and rules in the Northeast

Heater options. Electric or wood-burning heaters, and we can build with both wood and electric if you want both. Gas and propane heaters are available by request: call, text or message us to set it up. Our pods, cubes, 2 Person Barrel, XL Barrel, and Timberline list 175 to 230°F for the included heater.

- Electric suits a suburban lot with power near the sauna. Plan a dedicated circuit with a licensed electrician.
- Wood-burning suits a camp, farm, or rural property where running power is a stretch. Local burning rules vary, so check your local rules with your town and fire department first, and burn only dry, clean, untreated wood.
- Gas and propane mean gas piping, so plan that work with a licensed gas fitter or plumber and check your local rules.

Permits: start with your town. Rules for backyard structures differ across New York, New England, and Pennsylvania, and towns and cities can add their own zoning, setback, and historic-district rules. A sauna with a heater is not the same as a storage shed, and nothing here says a sauna is exempt where you live.

Check local rules: call your town or city building department and zoning office, and get HOA approval in writing if you have one, before you order.
