Short answer: yes, Blazin Saunas ships handmade outdoor saunas to New York. A team of six builds each one for your order in Idaho Falls, East Idaho. Pods, barrels, cubes, and the Timberline ship free in the contiguous U.S. The Teton and Blackwood arrive fully built, with shipping quoted.
New York covers lake-effect snow country and a mild-winter city, so planning starts with where your lot sits. This page is for New York buyers; our Northeast guide covers New England and Pennsylvania too.
Snow belt, city lots, and everything between
New York winters are uneven. Syracuse and Buffalo sit in a lake-effect belt with very heavy snow, and New York City gets milder winters with much less snow.
- Snow belt and mountain sites: set the sauna where you can shovel a path to the door, and keep the door side clear of snow sliding off the roof. Brush heavy snow off after big storms. See Cold-climate saunas.
- City and coastal lots: less snow, more freeze-thaw and wet weather. A level base that drains away from the cabin matters more than anything else; see Foundation and electrical and our cedar sauna maintenance tips.
How the cabin is built
Every Blazin sauna is built with stainless steel screws, with no glue in the cabin joinery and no off-gassing plastics in the structure. Pods, barrels, cubes, and Timberline have 1 5/8" thick Sugi cedar walls. Teton and Blackwood are insulated cabins with a Sugi cedar, Thermo Spruce, or Thermo Aspen interior, and siding chosen per build. More on the wood in Sugi cedar outdoor saunas and on the construction in Clean build, no glue.

Heater options
Electric or wood-burning heaters, and we can build with both wood and electric if you want both. Gas and propane heaters are available by request: call, text or message us to set it up. Our pods, cubes, 2 Person Barrel, XL Barrel, and Timberline list 175 to 230°F for the included heater.
- Electric suits a suburban lot with power near the sauna. Plan a dedicated circuit with a licensed electrician.
- Wood-burning suits a camp, farm, or rural property where running power is a stretch. Local burning rules vary, so check your local rules with your town and fire department first, and burn only dry, clean, untreated wood.
- Gas and propane mean gas piping, so plan that work with a licensed gas fitter or plumber and check your local rules.
Compare the tradeoffs in Electric vs wood-burning heaters.
Permits: start with your town
Rules for backyard structures differ across New York, and towns, cities, and villages can add their own zoning, setback, and historic-district rules. A sauna with a heater is not the same as a storage shed, and nothing here says a sauna is exempt where you live.
Check local rules: call your town or city building department and zoning office, and get HOA approval in writing if you have one, before you order. Our Permits and HOA guide has a checklist.
