Start with how you’ll use it
Start with who will use the sauna, how often, where it will sit, and how you want to heat it. Ask yourself:
- Solo sessions or family use?
- Daily or weekend use?
- Patio / compact footprint, or a statement piece in the yard?
- Electric plug-and-heat simplicity, or wood-burning ambiance?
Your answers point to capacity (1–2 person vs 4–8), shape (pod, barrel, cube), and heater type.
Barrel vs pod vs cube
Choose a barrel for the classic look, a pod when space is tight, and a cube for families and entertaining.
Barrel saunas: Classic rounded design, efficient heat, iconic look. Great for traditional sauna feel. The 2-person barrel suits couples; larger barrels including the 4 Person Barrel and XL Barrel seat more people.
Pod saunas: Compact, modern footprint with a clean silhouette and optional black metal roof for outdoor weather. Ideal when space is tight: the Pod Mini seats 1, the 2 Person Pod seats 2, and the 4 Person Pod seats 4.
Cube saunas: Boxier profile with room to stretch out. Strong choice for families and entertaining: the 4 Person Cube seats 4 and the 6 Person Cube seats 6. For more room, see the Timberline (6 or 8) and the fully built Teton and Blackwood.

Why Sugi cedar matters
Sugi cedar matters because it brings moisture resistance, durability outdoors, and that unmistakable cedar aroma. Not all “cedar saunas” are equal. Thickness and build quality matter for heat retention and lifespan. Blazin Saunas builds with Sugi cedar. Pods, barrels, cubes, and Timberline have 1 5/8" walls, and every sauna is made in-house in East Idaho.
Electric vs wood-burning heaters
Every kit model (pods, barrels, cubes, and Timberline) offers electric heat, and we can build with both wood and electric if you want both. Pods don't come with wood-burner packages.
Electric (often Harvia / Huum options): Convenient, consistent, and easy for daily use. Our pods, Pod Mini, cubes, 2 Person Barrel, XL Barrel, and Timberline list 175–230°F for the included heater. WiFi-control options are available on select heaters.
Wood-burning: Ritual, sound, and smell of a fire. Plan for clearance and chimney/venting, and check your local rules.
Each model's heater options are listed on its product page, and we're happy to help you choose: call or text (208) 520-6612 or (208) 270-5860.
Foundation, electrical, and site prep
Before delivery day, have a level base, power for an electric heater, safe clearances, and a clear delivery path ready:
- Level, stable base (pads, gravel, or a simple platform, model-dependent)
- Outdoor electrical capacity for electric heaters (often a dedicated circuit; check your local rules)
- Clearance from fences, eaves, and combustibles
- Path for delivery and assembly access
Easy assembly instructions ship with every pod, barrel, cube, and Timberline, and Blazin’s own crew assembles pods, barrels, cubes, and Timberline nationwide for $1,250. Teton and Blackwood arrive fully built.
