The sticker price on an outdoor sauna is only part of what you’ll spend. A clear budget includes the cabin kit, site prep, electrical (for electric heaters), optional professional assembly, and the small accessories that make daily use easy. We handcraft outdoor saunas in Idaho Falls, Idaho, from Sugi cedar (not Western Red Cedar). For the full purchase checklist, start with our Outdoor Sauna Buying Guide.
What “kit price” usually covers
The product “from” price is the cabin, and often a base heater or roof package, depending on the model. Browse our Outdoor Saunas collection to see it. Typical building blocks:
- Cabin / shell: Barrel, pod, cube, or larger cabin shapes in Sugi cedar. Pods, barrels, cubes, and Timberline have 1 5/8" walls.
- Roof / outdoor package: Many backyard installs include a durable black metal roof; confirm what’s on the product page.
- Heater package: Electric Harvia options (KIP built-in, KIP WiFi, Spirit WiFi) or wood-burning packages; see Heaters.
- Freight to your door: free on pods, barrels, cubes, and Timberline in the contiguous US (Hawaii and Alaska shipping is quoted); Teton and Blackwood quoted.
We offer electric, wood-burning, and gas or propane heaters, and we can build with both wood and electric if you want both.
Pods, barrels, and cubes start in different price bands. Compact everyday builds (Pod Mini, 2-person barrel or pod) sit lower; family cubes, XL barrels, and larger models (Timberline, Teton, Blackwood) sit higher. Always use the live “from” price on the product page, not a screenshot or ad.
From-prices by model
Read from each product page on October 5, 2026. Prices change, so confirm on the product page before you budget. Pods, barrels, cubes, and Timberline are $1,250 off the regular price until we are booked up; the Teton and Blackwood are at regular price.

Site prep: pad, gravel, or platform
Pad and base work often runs from hundreds to a few thousand dollars, depending on your area. Most outdoor saunas need a level, stable base so the cabin stays square and drains correctly. Options people commonly use include concrete pads, compacted gravel, or a simple framed platform, model and yard dependent.
The cost varies widely by market, soil, access, and whether you DIY or hire a contractor. Plan the footprint and delivery path early; details are in our Foundation & Electrical guide.
Electrical for electric heaters
Electrical work often lands in the hundreds to a few thousand dollars, depending on market. Electric heaters commonly need a dedicated outdoor circuit (often 240V), sized to the heater; check your local rules. A licensed electrician should quote and install this, not a general “average” from a blog.
Distance from the panel, trench length, panel capacity, and permit fees all move the number. Heater help: Harvia heater sizing and Electric vs wood-burning. Our pods, Pod Mini, cubes, 2 Person Barrel, XL Barrel, and Timberline list 175–230°F for the included heater.
Wood-burning heaters skip the dedicated heater circuit but add clearance and chimney/venting planning; check your local rules. Budget for those instead of wire runs.
Shipping: what’s included
Free shipping to the contiguous U.S. (Hawaii and Alaska shipping is quoted) on our pods, barrels, cubes, and Timberline. Teton and Blackwood arrive fully built and ship on a quoted rate based on your location and whether a crane is needed. There is no hidden freight line at checkout for free-shipping models. Lead times live on each product page: pods, barrels, cubes, and Timberline take about 4–5 weeks to build, then typically 5–10 business days in transit. Teton and Blackwood lead time is confirmed with your quote. See Delivery & lead times.
You’re still responsible for a clear path from curb/drive to pad and for being on site for delivery. That prep is free in dollars if you DIY the path, but it’s real time on the calendar.
Assembly: DIY or professional help
Most customers assemble their sauna themselves. If you’d rather not, our crew assembles pods, barrels, cubes and Timberline anywhere in the U.S. for $1,250 (professional assembly). Teton and Blackwood arrive fully built. Guide: DIY vs professional assembly.
If you book assembly, still finish the pad and electrical rough-in first so the crew isn’t waiting on site prep.
Accessories and finishing touches
Plan a modest accessories line, because thermometers, a bucket and ladle, vents, bench comfort, and door/window options aren’t always in the headline kit price. For example, the wooden bucket and ladle set is $49.99 and the black sauna thermometer is $12.99. Start with our Accessories checklist and Accessories collection so day-one use feels complete.
WiFi heater upgrades (Harvia KIP WiFi or Spirit WiFi) add convenience so you can start heat from your phone; they don’t replace correct sizing or a licensed electrician.
All-in cost checklist
An all-in budget covers these seven lines:
| Item | Cost | Notes |

| Cabin + heater package | Live product page “from” price | Roof and heater inclusion depends on the model. |
| Roof / outdoor kit | See the product page | Only if not already included. |
| Pad / base | Local quote, often hundreds to a few thousand | Concrete pad, compacted gravel, or framed platform. |
| Electrical or wood-stove clearances | Local quote, often hundreds to a few thousand | Licensed electrician for electric heaters; clearance and chimney/venting for wood; check your local rules. |
| Professional assembly (optional) | $1,250 | Pods, barrels, cubes, and Timberline; not needed for Teton or Blackwood. |
| Accessories and care supplies | A modest accessories line | Thermometer, bucket and ladle, vents, bench comfort. |
| Lead time before first heat session | No cost, but plan for it | About 4–5 weeks to build plus 5–10 business days in transit for pods, barrels, cubes, and Timberline; Teton and Blackwood confirmed with your quote. |
