Harvia KIP vs Spirit

Choosing an electric heater for a Blazin outdoor sauna usually comes down to control style, WiFi, and the heater listed for your model. Both the Harvia KIP and the Harvia Spirit are offered on our sauna product pages, and both are also sold on their own in our heaters collection.

Which Blazin models offer each

Some models also offer Huum WiFi heaters, and the 4 Person Barrel, XL Barrel, and Timberline offer the Harvia M3 wood-burning stove; the Teton and Blackwood can also be built with wood heat, and wood heat on the 6 Person Cube is available on request (ask us). Every option by model is in barrel vs pod vs cube. Comparing brands? See Huum vs Harvia. Other fuels: wood-burning sauna stoves and gas and propane sauna heaters.

Both are traditional electric heaters

They heat rocks for löyly, not infrared panels. Our saunas heat to 175 to 230°F (as listed for our pods, Pod Mini, cubes, 2 Person Barrel, XL Barrel, and Timberline). Electric vs wood overview: Electric vs wood-burning. Stone basics: sauna stones and löyly.

Sizing and electrical

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between the Harvia KIP and the Harvia Spirit?

Both are traditional electric heaters that heat rocks for löyly. The KIP comes with built-in dial controls or with the Harvia Xenio WiFi controller, in 4.5, 6, or 8 kW. The Spirit comes with the Xenio WiFi controller, in 6, 8, or 9 kW, and has a curved shape designed to maximize airflow through the stones.

Can I start my sauna from my phone?

Yes, with a WiFi package. The KIP WiFi and Spirit WiFi packages include the Harvia Xenio WiFi controller, and the MyHarvia app lets you adjust the temperature, check heater status, and schedule sessions. The KIP dial uses built-in controls on the heater.

Which heater comes with my Blazin sauna?

Heater choices are listed on each sauna's product page. For example, the 2 Person Pod offers the Harvia KIP 6kW (dial or WiFi), the Harvia Spirit 6kW WiFi, or the Huum Drop 6kW WiFi. Our barrel vs pod vs cube guide lists the heater options for every model.

What size heater do I need?

Ask us which heater fits your model. Each product page offers heaters sized for that model, so the sizes listed there are the ones we recommend. Our heater sizing guide explains how it works, and we're happy to match a heater to your model.

Do I need an electrician?

Yes. A licensed electrician handles the hardwired hookup for an electric heater. Plan that early so the sauna is not waiting on power. See our foundation and electrical guide.

Do the heater packages include stones?

Yes. The Harvia KIP dial, KIP WiFi, and Spirit WiFi packages on our site each include sauna stones.
