Outdoor Saunas for New Jersey, Maryland, Virginia and Delaware

Short answer: yes, Blazin Saunas delivers handmade outdoor saunas to New Jersey, Delaware, Maryland, Virginia, and the Washington, D.C. area, made to order in Idaho Falls, Idaho. Pods, barrels, cubes, and the Timberline ship free in the contiguous U.S.; The Blazin Teton Sauna and The Blackwood arrive fully built, with shipping quoted. Farther north? See our Northeast guide.

Small yards, wet weather, and local review are the usual planning points here. Here is how to work through them.

Wet winters, muggy summers

The region gets a mix of rain, snow, and ice, with the snow total dropping as you head south. Northern New Jersey tends to get the most snow and central Virginia the least, and rain falls through the year in all four states, so drainage matters as much as snow.

  • Water is the main site issue. Set the sauna on a level base that drains, keep gutters and downspouts pointed away, and leave room to walk around it.
  • Ice and wet snow: clear the roof and the step after storms. Your building department can tell you what snow load applies to your address; we don't publish snow-load ratings.
  • Humid summers: airflow around the cabin and routine cedar care keep the wood looking good. See Cedar sauna maintenance.

Permits start with your local office

Building rules differ across New Jersey, Delaware, Maryland, Virginia, and D.C., and the details are handled locally. Check your local rules before you order.

Your township, city, or county building office decides whether a backyard sauna needs a permit. Ask them, confirm zoning and setbacks, and get HOA approval in writing before ordering. If you live in a townhome or HOA community, allow time for review. See the Permits and HOA guide.

Electric heat for close neighbors

On a suburban lot with neighbors close by, an electric heater is the straightforward choice, wired by a licensed electrician. Our pods, cubes, 2 Person Barrel, XL Barrel, and Timberline list 175-230°F for the included heater, and WiFi control is available on select heaters (WiFi sauna heaters).

We do not claim any wood-burning heater is allowed, approved, or compliant in New Jersey, Delaware, Maryland, Virginia, or D.C. Smoke and burning rules vary by town and county. If you want wood heat, check your local rules first and call us. Gas and propane heaters are available by request: call, text or message us to set it up. Compare: Electric vs wood-burning.

Sizes that fit smaller lots

If your yard is tight, start with footprint. The size guide and each product page list dimensions.

Kits are Sugi cedar with 1 5/8" walls, put together with stainless steel screws instead of glue. The Teton and Blackwood are insulated, with Sugi cedar, Thermo Spruce, or Thermo Aspen inside and siding picked per build. Pods, barrels, cubes, and the Timberline are $1,250 off regular price until we are booked up; the Teton and Blackwood are regular price.

Delivery on the East Coast

Kits are built in about 4-5 weeks and spend 5-10 business days in transit, with free shipping to the region. Most customers assemble it themselves. Measure your side gate against the largest panels or staves on your model's packing list. For pods, barrels, cubes, and the Timberline, professional assembly is optional at $1,250 from our nationwide assembly team, separate from the sale. The Teton and Blackwood show up fully built with nothing to assemble; their shipping depends on location and whether a crane is needed, and lead time comes with your quote. Rowhouse alleys, shared driveways, and street parking are all worth mentioning when you call. More: Delivery and lead times.

Ordering from the Mid-Atlantic

We plan your order over the phone instead of visiting the site, so photos of the spot, the access, and the panel help. Options to pay: in full, Affirm monthly payments, or HSA/FSA funds if you may qualify through TrueMed. Our 3-year limited warranty also covers rental, commercial, and dealer use. All sales are final. Each sauna is handmade for your order in East Idaho. Defects are covered by our 3-year warranty. Spas, gyms, and rentals: schedule a call to ask about dealer pricing.
