Short answer: yes, Blazin Saunas ships handmade outdoor saunas to Georgia, North Carolina, South Carolina, and Tennessee, each built to order in our Idaho Falls shop. Pods, barrels, cubes, and the Timberline ship free in the contiguous U.S., and The Blazin Teton Sauna and The Blackwood arrive fully built, with shipping quoted. Virginia or farther north? See our Mid-Atlantic guide.
Across these four states you plan around long, hot summers, a lot of rain, and real snow once you climb into the mountains. Here is how that shapes the order.
Summer heat, steady rain, and mountain snow
From the Lowcountry to the Tennessee Valley, summer sets the plan. Atlanta, Columbia, and Nashville all have hot, humid summers. Rain comes all year, and the coast around Charleston gets a lot of it, summer included.
Elevation changes the winter picture. Atlanta sees little snow, while Asheville, Boone, and especially Beech Mountain in the North Carolina mountains get more each winter.
- Plan for water first. With that much rain, drainage is the first thing to plan on the site. Set the sauna on a level base that sheds water, aim downspouts and sprinklers away from the walls, and keep leaves and pine straw off the roof. Base prep: Foundation and electrical.
- Give the cedar shade and air. A spot with afternoon shade and open air on every side is easier on the wood through a long, muggy summer. Care tips: Cedar sauna maintenance.
- In the Blue Ridge and the Smokies, plan for winter. Brush snow off the roof and keep the path to the door clear after a storm, and for the snow load that applies to your lot, ask your building department. We don't publish snow-load ratings for Blazin saunas. More: Cold-climate saunas.
Permits and HOAs: check with your city or county
Rules for a backyard sauna differ from one city and county to the next in Georgia, the Carolinas, and Tennessee, so start with the office that covers your address and check your local rules.
Before you order, confirm permits, zoning, and setbacks with your city or county, and get HOA approval in writing if your neighborhood has one. A new circuit for an electric heater usually raises an electrical permit question as well. On a sloped lot, ask what it takes to build a level base there. Bring the questions from our Permits and HOA guide to that conversation.
Choosing a heater
For most backyards in the region, we suggest starting with an electric heater, wired by a licensed electrician. Inside, our pods, cubes, 2 Person Barrel, XL Barrel, and Timberline list 175-230°F for the included heater. Depending on size, expect 30 to 60 minutes to heat up, so you can switch it on after dinner on a summer night or ahead of a cold evening in the mountains.
Among our models, wood-burning heaters are offered on the 4 Person Barrel, XL Barrel, Timberline, Teton, and Blackwood (on the 6 Person Cube on request), and we can build a sauna with both a wood-burning and an electric heater. We make no claim that wood heat is allowed or approved in Georgia, North Carolina, South Carolina, or Tennessee. Rules on smoke and burning vary by city and county, so check your local rules, then ask us. Gas and propane heaters are available by request: call, text or message us to set it up.
