Short answer: Blazin Saunas ships handmade outdoor saunas to Alabama, Mississippi, and Louisiana. Every sauna is built to order by our six-person team in Idaho Falls, Idaho. Pods, barrels, cubes, and the Timberline ship free in the contiguous U.S., and The Blazin Teton Sauna and The Blackwood arrive fully built with quoted shipping.
From the Mobile Bay shore to the Mississippi Delta and south Louisiana, the Gulf states share long, humid summers, frequent rain, and a hurricane season to plan around. Farther north, the hill country of Alabama and Mississippi gets the occasional cold snap. Here is what that means for a backyard sauna.
Water, shade, and airflow come first
Wet ground is the main thing to design around on the Gulf. Choose high ground in the yard rather than the low corner where puddles sit, and build a level base that lets rain run off and away. Keep gutter outlets and sprinklers aimed elsewhere. More on the base and wiring: Foundation and electrical.
Humidity is the other half. Leave open air on each side so the cedar can dry, give it some afternoon shade if you can, and crack the door after you finish so the bench and floor dry out. Pine needles and leaves hold moisture, so sweep them off the roof. Our cedar maintenance guide covers finish care.
When a tropical storm or hurricane is forecast, treat the sauna like the rest of your outdoor gear: clear the roof, put away anything that could blow into it, and keep drains open. How outdoor structures need to be secured is a local question, so check your local rules and ask us.
City, county, or parish
In Louisiana you will be dealing with a parish rather than a county. Wherever you are, the office that covers your address decides what a backyard sauna needs, so check your local rules there on zoning, setbacks, permits, and the electrical hookup. If you live in a subdivision with an HOA, get its sign-off in writing first. The questions to bring are in our Permits and HOA guide.
Heat source: electric is the easy start
An electric heater, hooked up by a licensed electrician, is where we would start on a Gulf Coast lot. Select heaters add WiFi so you can warm the sauna from your phone. Where a product page lists 175-230°F, the included heater gets there, which makes an after-dark session easy to plan on a summer evening. Wood-burning heaters are available on the Timberline, Teton, Blackwood, XL Barrel, and 4 Person Barrel, with the 6 Person Cube on request, and dual-heater builds pair wood with electric. Smoke and burning rules change from one parish or county to the next, so check your local rules and ask us before you settle on wood. Gas and propane heaters are available by request: call, text or message us to set it up. Details: Electric vs wood-burning · Heater sizing.

Picking a model
Start with how many people will use it and how much flat, dry ground you have.
- Just you, or two of you: Pod Mini (seats 1), 2 Person Barrel, or 2 Person Pod.
- A household of four: 4 Person Barrel, 4 Person Pod, or 4 Person Cube, whose glass front lets in light.
- Bigger gatherings or a camp property: XL Barrel (6 to 8), Timberline (6 or 8), or 6 Person Cube (6).
- Delivered complete: Teton (5x6 to 8x10) or Blackwood, which has a private changing room attached.
Every kit is built from 1 5/8" Sugi cedar, fastened with stainless steel screws, with no glue in the joinery. Inside the insulated Teton and Blackwood you can pick Sugi cedar, Thermo Spruce, or Thermo Aspen, and the siding is chosen for each build. Pods, barrels, cubes, and the Timberline are $1,250 off regular price until we are booked up; the Teton and Blackwood are regular price. Side by side: Barrel vs pod vs cube.
Delivery and assembly on the Gulf
Kits take about 4-5 weeks to build, then 5-10 business days in transit, and ship free to all three states. Most customers assemble it themselves, and on the Gulf it helps to pick a dry stretch and an early start. Professional assembly for pods, barrels, cubes, and the Timberline is optional at $1,250 from our nationwide assembly team, separate from the sale. The Teton and Blackwood arrive fully built, so there is nothing to assemble; shipping is quoted by location and whether a crane is needed, and lead time is confirmed with your quote. Tell us about the drive and the ground between the road and your base when you call. More: Delivery and lead times.
How ordering works
Orders are planned over the phone; we don't come out for site visits. Send a few photos of the spot, the route in, and your electrical panel. Pay in full, pay monthly with Affirm, or use HSA/FSA funds if you may qualify through TrueMed. The 3-year limited warranty covers home, rental, and commercial use, including saunas bought through an authorized dealer. All sales are final. Each sauna is handmade for your order in East Idaho. Defects are covered by our 3-year warranty. Fishing camps, rentals, and gyms can schedule a call about dealer and wholesale pricing.
