Outdoor Sauna Kits vs Fully Built Saunas

Short answer: Blazin Saunas sells two kinds of outdoor sauna. Pods, barrels, cubes, and the Timberline ship as kits that you put together at home, and they ship free to the contiguous U.S. The Blazin Teton Sauna and The Blackwood arrive fully built, so there is nothing to assemble, and their shipping is quoted. Every one is handmade for your order by our team of six in Idaho Falls, Idaho.

What "kit" means at Blazin

We cut and build each kit in our Idaho Falls shop from Sugi cedar, with 1 5/8" walls, stainless steel screws, and no glue in the cabin joinery (more on our clean build). It ships to you in sections with model-specific instructions, and you finish the build on your own base.

Most customers assemble their kit themselves. If you would rather not, professional assembly for pods, barrels, cubes, and the Timberline is optional at $1,250 from our nationwide assembly team. That price is separate from the sale. Our assembly guide walks through the DIY path step by step.

Kit models and who they fit

From-prices below were read from each product page while this guide was written. The product page always shows today's price and options.

Pods, barrels, cubes, and the Timberline are $1,250 off regular price until we are booked up. If you want wood heat in a kit, the 4 Person Barrel, XL Barrel, and Timberline offer the Harvia M3 wood-burning heater option on their product pages. The Teton and Blackwood can also be built with wood heat, and wood heat on the 6 Person Cube is available on request (ask us). Side-by-side specs live in Barrel vs pod vs cube.

Fully built: the Teton and Blackwood

The Blazin Teton Sauna and The Blackwood are insulated cabins that leave our shop fully built. They are not kits. There is nothing to assemble. Inside, you choose Sugi cedar, Thermo Spruce, or Thermo Aspen, and the exterior siding is chosen per build.

  • Teton: sizes from 5' × 6' to 8' × 10'. The 5' × 6' seats 4 and the 8' × 10' seats 10. From $18,095.
  • Blackwood: 8' × 10' or 8' × 15', with an attached changing room. From $30,995.

Both are sold at regular price; the $1,250 sale does not apply to them. Shipping is quoted by your location and whether a crane is needed, and lead time is confirmed with your quote. Compare the two in Teton vs Blackwood.

Kit or fully built: five questions

  1. Do you enjoy a weekend project? If you have helpers and like building things, a kit puts that work in your hands. If not, add pro assembly to a kit model, or choose a fully built cabin.
  2. Can a truck or crane reach your spot? A kit arrives in sections that you and your helpers move from the curb to your base. A fully built cabin needs real clearance, and sometimes a crane, so the route to your pad matters more. Tell us about narrow gates, slopes, and overhead lines.
  3. How many seats do you need? Kits cover 1 to 8 seats. The Teton runs from 4 seats (5' × 6') to 10 seats (8' × 10'), and the Blackwood adds an attached changing room. Our size guide helps here.
  4. What is your total budget? Add the base, electrical work, and accessories to the sauna price. Our cost guide lists what to plan for.
  5. When do you want first heat? Kits take about 4–5 weeks to build, then 5–10 business days in transit (see delivery and lead times). For the Teton and Blackwood, timing comes with your quote.

Site prep is the same either way

Whichever path you pick, the sauna needs a level, stable, draining base and, for an electric heater, a licensed electrician. Get both done before delivery day so the sauna is not waiting on site work. Start with Foundation and electrical, and check zoning, setbacks, permits, and HOA rules with the Permits and HOA guide.

Our saunas heat to 175–230°F (as listed for our pods, Pod Mini, cubes, 2 Person Barrel, XL Barrel, and Timberline). Heater brands we carry include Harvia, Huum, Scandia, and Saunum, with electric and wood-burning options and dual-heater builds that have both. Gas and propane heaters are available by request: call, text or message us to set it up. If you are thinking about wood, check your local rules first and ask us. Electric is convenient and needs an electrician; wood-burning needs clearances and venting. More: Electric vs wood-burning.
