What the Harvia M3 package lists
According to its product page, the Harvia M3 package comes with sauna stones, protective bedding, and a protective sheath along with the stove itself, plus an insulated chimney kit, a chimney extension, and the installation components. The Harvia Legend 150 is also sold as its own package; ask us before you pair it with a particular sauna. Install the stove and chimney by the manufacturer's instructions.
Electric, wood, or both
- Electric. Our default. An electric heater needs a dedicated circuit, run by a licensed electrician. Select electric heaters offer WiFi control.
- Wood. On the three kits above, the Teton and Blackwood too, and on the 6 Person Cube on request (ask us). Not on pods. Rules on wood smoke and burning are set locally and differ widely, so we never assume wood is fine at your address. Check your local rules and ask us.
- Dual heater. We build saunas with both a wood-burning and an electric heater, so you can pick for the day. Electrical work still goes to a licensed electrician.
Where a product page lists it, as on the XL Barrel and Timberline, the included heater runs at 175-230°F once it is up to temperature. More in our outdoor sauna temperature guide. Side by side: Electric vs wood-burning heaters · Wood vs electric in a cold climate.
Planning a sauna at a cabin
- The spot. Pick firm, level ground that sheds water, with clear space overhead and around the walls for the chimney on a wood build. Keep branches trimmed back from the roof.
- The base. Every model needs a level, prepared base. See Foundation and electrical.
- Firewood. If you choose wood, plan a dry, covered place for it that is close to the door but well away from the stove.
- Winter. In cold, snowy country, keep the roof brushed off and the path to the door open, and let meltwater run away from the base. More: Cold-climate saunas.
- Local rules. Check your local rules on zoning, setbacks, permits, and any electrical work, plus any road or lake association covenants. Our Permits and HOA guide lists questions to ask.
